Call for applications - Residency programme at the Cité internationale des arts [fr]
The INSTITUT FRANÇAIS is launching a call for applications as part of its programme at the Cité internationale des arts for the allocation of residencies between April 2022 and April 2023.
Since its creation in 1965, the CITÉ INTERNATIONALE DES ARTS has welcomed artists from all over the world for residencies. It is a place of life open to dialogue between cultures, where artists meet their audiences and professionals.
The programme is aimed at international artists, residing exclusively abroad, who wish to develop a research and creation project in Paris for a period of three or six months.
Applications must be supported by one or more cultural partners. These partners associated with the artist may be Institutions of the French cultural network abroad French institutes, cultural services of French embassies, Alliances françaises and/or French or foreign cultural structures Art centre, association, multidisciplinary laboratory, gallery, museum, conventioned structure, theatre, production place for dance and street arts, concert hall, festival abroad, etc. In France, priority will be given to applications submitted by the labels and networks of the Ministry of Culture.
Artists may submit a research project on a subject or theme of their choice, within the disciplines listed below:
Architecture/landscape/urban planning, visual arts, street arts/circus/puppets, comics, cinema (fiction, animation, creative documentary), curating/art criticism, digital creation (digital arts, video games, VR), dance, design/graphics, literature (fiction, essay, youth), crafts, fashion, music (contemporary, jazz, classical, image-based), photography, multidisciplinary projects, theatre.
The INSTITUT FRANÇAIS offers individual residences and provides accommodation for the workshops at the Cité internationale des arts, on the Marais site in Paris. The studio flats are approximately 40m2 in size and consist of a work space, a furnished living space (bedroom, bathroom, kitchen) and are equipped with a WiFi internet connection.
THE PARTNER(S) ASSOCIATED WITH THE ARTIST in France or abroad, undertake to :
To finance the return travel expenses;
Ensure that the prizewinner has insurance covering
repatriation, hospitalization, medical expenses and civil liability
Ensure that the winner has a visa allowing him/her to
Ensure that the winner has a visa allowing him/her to stay in France for the duration of the residency;
Provide the artist with a living allowance of 700 euros per month, minimum. For the posts of the French cultural network abroad, new possibilities of financing the residence allowance through CAMPUS FRANCE have been opened*.
