DIO UGABAG (October 2017) [fr]
From September 30 to October 28, 2017, French forces stationed in Djibouti (FFDj) launched an operational training detachment project in Uganda for the benefit of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UDPF).
In the framework of the global fight against terrorism the French ministry of defense also supports Uganda. Operational training detachments are provided by the French Forces in Djibouti. Upstream the UPDF deployment within the AMISOM and in order to prepare them to be engaged in overseas operations, these French Trainers detachments provide skills and knowledge on technical and tactical know how and combined warfare. All these practical abilities are directly useful in the field.
In the heart of the Singo camp dedicated to training for peacekeeping missions, the detachment thus supervised the individual training of the combatant in fields as varied as weapons, shooting, combat relief, displacement as a group, the rules of engagement, the topography or the action to be taken in the presence of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Up to 3 Operational Training Detachments per year, resulting in the training of 5000 to 7000 Ugandan servicemen.
