France on the podium of global innovation
According to the ranking released on January 10th 2017 by “Clarivate Analytics”, a consulting agency in industrial property and science, France is now the third country in terms of innovation with 10 companies, behind the United States of America (39 companies) and Japan (34 companies). France is better ranked than Germany (4), South Korea (3) and Switzerland (3).
This ranking honors the 100 most innovative corporations and institutions in the world determined by analyzing proprietary data.
Alstom, Arkema, CNRS, CEA, IFP, Safran, Saint-Gobain, Thales, Total and Valeo are part of the 100 companies and institutions most innovative around the world. France’s third position is especially due to public research’s dynamism which files 30% of the patents.
France is known worldwide for the vitality of its startups ’ecosystem. During the Consumer Electronic Show that took place in Las Vegas from January 5th to January 8th 2017, France was the second foreign delegation, and the first European delegation.
On January 16th, 2017, Paris hosted more than 150 foreign heads of innovative companies for the second edition of “French Tech Ticket”, an international startups competition supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development and offering a one-year program in French incubators.
