Museveni meets Hollande in Paris [fr]
On Monday September the 19th, The President of the Republic of Uganda Yoweri Museveni was received at the Elysee Palace by his French counterpart as part of his official visit to Paris.
The French President François Hollande thanked his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni for the major contribution his country is making towards AMISOM where Uganda is the major troop contributing country, with more than 4 500 soldiers.
Hollande also saluted Uganda’s active participation in the Burundi peace process. He reiterated his attachment to a quick implementation of the AU and UN decisions, especially in regard to the deployment of AU and UN observers.
On the Democratic Republic of Congo, François Hollande registered his concern with the ongoing delay in organising elections and emphasized the importance of respecting the Constitutional provisions.
Regarding the fight against climate change, President François Hollande congratulated Uganda for ratifying the Paris agreement on 15th September 2016. He confirmed that France would maintain its support to Uganda to promote the development renewable energy, access to water or urban transport.
The French Head of State encouraged President Museveni to pursue the ongoing institutional reforms in Uganda while underscoring France’s attachment to the principle of non-discrimination against monitory groups.
