Uganda and its economic opportunities. Recap of MEDEF round-table.
On Tuesday, February 7th, Mrs. Stéphanie Rivoal, Ambassador of France, accompanied by Mr. Thierry Loussakoueno, Head of the Economic service, and Virginie Leroy, AFD Country Representative, were received at the MEDEF headquarters in Paris, in response to the latter’s invitation.
This conference provided the opportunity to take stock of the economic reforms to come as well as the economic and financial situation of the country and priority sectors of government. Almost forty representatives of French enterprises and banks were around the table. The main purpose of the meeting was to prepare for the upcoming arrival of a MEDEF delegation in Uganda, which will take place during the second week of June.
Many economic issues and themes were discussed such as the potentials and talents of Uganda’s youth, the favorable economic context, the digitization of the economic system, the diversification of the economy, infrastructure, education and training, entrepreneurship, territorial development, etc. These challenges are also opportunities for French entrepreneurs.
In addition, it enabled French firms, through individual interviews granted to several representatives, to present their activities or ongoing projects to the French Ambassador and the head of the economic service based in Kampala, and to agree together on potential future deals.
